Question 1

Is this free to?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely! It is intended to be a free to use community resource. There's no cost for aggregated events to appear here. Listings are basic: date, time, location, and a flyer or graphic, if the organizer sends one at some point. Listing a local event and then demanding payment from the organizer later would be exploitative.

Question 2

Is this for Knob Noster only?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this calendar is a curated resource for activities happening within the 65336-zip code.

Question 3

Are Whiteman Air Force Base events included?

Accepted Answer

Only if they're open to the public without requiring a military ID or an escort/sponsor to get on base. Base events that require sign-on access aren't listed here.

Question 4

How do you find out about events?

Accepted Answer

Events are gathered manually. I regularly search across local platforms, social media, and community sources to find what's happening and add it here. There's no automatic feed, so if something's brand new or hasn't crossed my radar yet, it may take a little time to show up. No bots, no auto-feeds - just manual, old-fashioned searching.Only publicly listed events and their basic details are posted here, along with direct links to the event and point of contact.

Question 5

Why isn't my event listed?

Accepted Answer

It could be one or more of the following:I simply haven't seen it yet. It's missing info, or the only way to reach the host is gated behind a login or account. It doesn't meet the criteria.Events are only added when the flyer or post clearly shows a point of contact and a public way to reach them (phone, email, or venue name) - nothing to click through, log into, or search around to find. I don't track down missing details, so if that's not already there, it won't be listed.See what qualifies HERE

Question 6

Can I submit my event?

Accepted Answer

Not yet, but that feature is coming soon.

Question 7

I didn't submit this event, why is it here? Are you going to bill me?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. I manually gather public events for our ZIP code to make sure everyone in our neighborhood stays connected, even if they don't use social media. Some platforms use bait-and-switch tactics to lock event details behind a paywall, but I find that practice disingenuous. This is a free, self-funded community resource. In the future, I may offer fully optional, paid promotional spots (like pinning your event to the top, or a promotional blog post), but basic calendar visibility costs nothing and there will zero surprises.

Question 8

I found my event here, but I want it removed. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

No problem at all! If you are the official event organizer or host, just drop me a quick message at editor@locallykn.com and I will remove it immediately. To protect your event's visibility and prevent accidental mix-ups, we can only accept removal requests directly from the organizer (rather than well-meaning friends or attendees). If you prefer your events get skipped in the future, just mention that in your message.
