Resources for the
Knob Noster Community
This is your "where to find what" page. Who to contact for utilities, schools, etc. Where the parks are - things that someone new to the community, Whiteman AFB, or even just re-engaging with what's local would potentially need to know.

Outdoor Warning Sirens (Tornado Sirens):The outdoor warning system / tornado sirens are activated by the county when a tornado warning is issued, or there is visual confirmation of a tornado reported by storm spotters. The tornado sirens are designed to alert people who are outside. They are not designed to be heard while you are indoors. They do not sound an "all clear". If you hear sirens again, please go to your safe space and utilize your weather radio or other trusted resource. The outdoor warning sirens are tested regularly on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m., unless the sky is overcast or storms are in the area to avoid confusion. For more details: https://johnsoncounty911.org/community-information/emergency-preparedness/outdoor-warning-sirens/Watch vs WarningThis one still trips people up. Know the difference. Watch = Weather conditions in the area could potentially produce a tornado. Stay aware. Know your routes. Warning = An actual tornado has been confirmed, either by radar, or by trained storm spotters. Seek shelter immediately. More info: https://www.weather.gov/safety/tornado-ww
